Alissa Mattson

Alissa is an entrepreneur and creator passionate about cultivating spaces that expand health, wellness, and personal expression. Alissa’s most recent endeavor has been creating, operating, and growing Kona Bowls, a thriving superfood cafe in Golden, CO, where she and her family have resided for the last 5 years. Her goal is to elevate the collective wellness in Golden through superfoods and good moods! 

Alissa has found work, play, and home in West Michigan, Alaska, Hawaii, and Colorado. On her many paths, Alissa has found creative ways to nourish her greatest passion, which is creating spaces where people can feel nourished, loved, and whole.

Alissa taught High School English in Alaska where she also sat on several educational boards: advanced curriculum development specialist, learning styles specialist, remedial writing specialist, and standardized testing specialist. She also helped develop testing and assessment systems for the University of Alaska, KPC. during her role as Distance Education Coordinator. Alissa has also volunteered extensively in Hawaii schools teaching standards-based art lessons.

Throughout all of her moves, Alissa has used her creative skills to design many remodels for residential homes, investment rental properties, & commercial real estate spaces through her & her husband’s personal business partnerships. In Hawaii, she built Sunshine Stays, LLC, a property management business specializing in exceptional Airbnb Rentals in Kona, HI.

Alissa’s next goals are to continue expanding the Kona Bowls brand and footprint, as well as becoming a certified yoga instructor (a goal she is scheduled to complete in Spring 2023). She and her husband have long-term goals of opening a wellness retreat internationally.

When Alissa isn’t working on her Kona Bowls dreams, she is probably somewhere by the water dreaming up new endeavors, staying active with one her favorite activities: yoga, paddleboarding, and skiing, or spending time with her young adult children, husband of 20+ years, and two golden retrievers.
